Dr. Eveline Honig was with Narcolepsy Network for the last 16 years, aiding in its mission to provide education, support, and advocacy for patients and families impacted by narcolepsy. Eveline decided to move on from the organization, and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

In the near term, we as a Board are leading the organization, providing support to staff and operations, and assessing current needs. We are fully committed to continuing our programming and have identified the need for an Interim Executive Director with organizational development and patient advocacy experience. We believe this transitional leadership step is essential for a growing patient organization like Narcolepsy Network.

Since our founding, the work of patient-driven organizations has grown by leaps and bounds – with much greater patient empowerment in shaping healthcare legislation, supporting researchers, partnering with the pharmaceutical industry, and expanding patient advocacy networks. We live in a new world, and we have a newfound sense of urgency to grow our impact in the community on behalf of our membership. The public health crisis of COVID-19 has made these needs even more apparent. These needs are not new – we have recognized over the past few years that to be as strong we can be, we must expand our outreach and impact. We will continue to work to do so.

As Board members, we value the contributions of all of our colleagues and would like to thank those officers who recently chose to leave their posts. We wish them well and are grateful for their service and accomplishments.

The programs for Narcolepsy Network will continue as scheduled and we will carefully consider priorities for the coming year. While we recognize that change is challenging, we also recognize how strong our community is and are confident that we will continue to be supportive of one another. We’ll engage with you – our members – to better understand your needs and listen to your concerns, as well as your ideas about the future of Narcolepsy Network.
