Hi! My husband just had a sleep study done and the tech told him that he is pretty sure that he has N. We are waiting for the confirmation, but would like some input on what questions we should ask. We have been trying to do some research on our own but it is overwhelming. I am glad to have a reason why he is always tired. His concern is that he is tired of feeling tired.
Have any of you tried herbal remedies? and how did that work for you? we appreciate any help you can give us.

We did get a confirmation that my husband has N. He has started on provigil 200mg. It seems to be helping but he said he gets dizzy now and then but not bad enough to stop taking it. He is 34yr what are the chances that this will get worse for him?

It is great that you care so much about helping your husband!! My husband still doesn't understand all of it so he thinks he's being sweet to let me sleep in!! It is great that everything was confirmed, N sucks, but at least now you have an answer. I'm newly diagnosed (after 15 years!!), but I've done some searching. They started me on provigil first, I did have slight dizziness, but for the first week or so I just wanted to go running for hours!! I talked so fast I couldn't even catch my breath!! After about 6-7 months it had completely leveled off and didn't phase me anymore (they started me on the highest dose recommended for provigil). Now they've moved me to Adderall XR and it's helping some, but the side effects (mainly if a dose is missed) are pretty harsh. Mainly severe headaches, but if a dose is missed, my husband describes me as a strung-out rockstar. I walk around the house with sun glasses on (the light hurts my eyes) and I have to have a heavy coat on because I'm so cold. And I'm just get angry at the world, basically it's like withdraw symptoms. As for getting worse for him, if it's the N, I haven't found any conclusive info, some say yes, some no. Mine has notably worsened over the years. If it's about the provigil, the side effects should subside after a few days/weeks use. Just use caution, follow the little warnings on the side of the bottle, and definately don't drive without someone else in the car until you started to even out!! It becomes like a rollercoaster ride and you're more entertained by the feeling of going around the curves, than staying in between the lines. I'm looking into the herbal remedies and hopefully will find something soon, but no real info yet. Hope this helps a little!!

He is doing great with the provigil smile.gif . I can't beleive what a difference it makes. I have also stopped letting him sleep thinking I am doing him a favor. He is adjusting to me waking him up at the same time to take his meds. I have noticed that if he fights me on getting up and takes his meds a lot later the next day is not so pleasant for him. He is convinced he doesn't need me to drive him to work and I will not push him on that one. I will fight that battle with him if he starts to have problems. I am hoping that he is one of the lucky ones who will not get worse but I will also be prepared if it does get worse. Thanks for all of the info It is a big help. smile.gif

Your husband is one lucky guy! All of us who have caring enough spouses are fortunate. I am among that group...thankfully.

When I started on the Pro...my first week was super-go-happy-fast! I found myself stopping whatever I was doing to take a deep breath. For once in my life I thought I was "normal". I was wrong. I was as close to normal before the Pro, and I just didn't give myself enough credit.

After a couple weeks, like BB King Sings..."The thrill is gone!"

The fun-buzz died down to what is actually better for me. I'm now on a bit of a higher dose and evened off.

There are some days when I wonder why I take it. There are some days I wouldn't dream of a day without it.

It has been brought to my attention that EVERY body acts different, and while that may seem like common knowledge, Pro is the kind of drug that demands that this be kept in mind.

As for the organic way...Green Tea in the morning does wonders (and the antioxidents aren't going to hurt either). Diet DOES effect us. Anything with a high level of vitamin B (ALL of them) seems to be most helpful.

Love is a powerful drug! Okay, okay...that sounds corny, but nothing has helped me through the worse N storms like the understanding of my beautiful wife. Whe the pro and the other meds fail me, She was always there to keep me from letting it get the best of me.
