I heard from a doctor (haven't had to try it myself, altho my prescription drug insurance folks are rumbling about something similar) that Cephalon will sometimes help you obtain Provigil if you can't afford it. (And who can without some insurance help?)
From my experience, Ritalin DOES drop you off a cliff. I could predict to the minute when it would turn off and I had BETTER take a 2nd one or I might not stay awake.

thank you for the information. the ritalin keeps me awake during the morning, but i get so dull in the pm, even if i take a second one. i will try working with cephalon directly.

There are a few different types of Ritalin. I also had a problem with regular Ritalin not being effective all day... Check with your doctor, but I have been taking Ritalin SR (slow release) and it has been very effective for me.

Thank you all for responding. I finally put myself back on the provigil. I was always tired on the ritalin, and was getting very depressed. I need that like a hole in the head. took myself off. The depression thing was scary. I have never had anything like that happen to me, did not like it!

Ritalin always worked better for me than Provigil, which gave me memory problems, but if you ever go back to it just know there are at least 3 types (regular, SR and LA) with many different doses. I have been on all 3 at the same time and had all the doses adjusted until I found one that worked. Sometimes it's just a matter of your doctor trying different combos to find what works for you.

Can u tell me more about memory problems? i thought it was just because i was getting older. I am only 56, exercise, don't over eat, have slight delayed recall, bothersome. Thank you for the info. I feel more "normal" on the provigil, and mood is much better. if i am tired tho, i cannot drive highways without stopping at truck stops and passing out briefly. weird. If i am moving around, doesn't bother me, even brain is not as dull. late afternoons i am not sleepy, but tired and dull. better and in the swing of things by 7:30, 8: pm.
the ritalin did nothing for me didn't keep me awake, made me depressed, blotto. i was on the regular ind. did you really find that much difference among types?

Hi! I'm in a similar situation because I am overseas, don't have insurance and can't afford Provigil. I've had narcolepsy and excessive sleepiness for as long as I can remember. I found a reputable UK pharmacy that sells a non-name brand version of it online. It's 4 or 5 times cheaper than all the other sites. I have done extensive research on this. I bought it from there as well as some relatives who have narcolepsy. It's delivered within 5-7 days...here is the link:$83 dollars only for 100mg 100 tabs: Good Health Pharmacy Hope it helps.
