I was initially put on provigil which did nothing. Then we tried Xyrem whose side effects were so severe I ended up in ER. Next we tried 150 mg of adderall daily which worked but recently my insurance stopped covering adderall. I'm now on Ritalin 40mg 3x's day and it helps but Im still foggy and sleepy. Yesterday my Dr added Provigil to use in conjunction with the Ritalin. Has anyone used this combination? Any other suggestions?

Yes (suggestion): Ask your Dr. to prescribe Dexedrine SR (time-release). My 1st Dr. put me on Ritalin (when I was first diagnosed). it had almost no effect, for me - I felt "jittery" but my EDS was about the same. Provigil was of no help either (and caused very severe headaches). Dexedrine works pretty well for me- I've been taking it for 11+ years, and have only (slightly) increased my dosage once.
What really helped me the most was Desoxyn- I was taking it for several years, then one day my pharmacist said the company had stopped making it (I've recently learned this wasn't the case, so I'm not sure what that was all about).
Anyway, Dexedrine is the only other med that has worked for me. My insurance covers it (although they did make me/my Dr. jump through a few hoops, initially).
