I have been trying to manage my narcolepsy without any medications for the past year. It is impossible. I have just started Provigil (day 3). I think it is making me depressed and making me feel out of it. I also feel like there is a road block in my brain. I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar feelings? I want to give the medicine a good try before I give up on it in hopes that the side effects will eventually go away. I just started with 100 mg and haven't noticed any increase in energy, just depression.

I tried nuvigil for like a week, and it didn't help me at all. It made me feel weird and out of it, and like I was having trouble thinking. IMO, try Xyrem. I've been on it for a month and I feel like my life is completely turning around. It's the only medication for narcolepsy that will actually treat part of the problem (the lack of restful sleep part), rather than just temporarily treating the symptom of being tired all the time.
