I wonder statisicly how many people with narcolepsy where in the vietnam war, or had a parent that was exposed to Agent Orange in the Vietnam war come home and have a child with narcolepsy? [/b]

Hi Deborah,
I'm new to this website, but I've asked the same question about narcolepsy and agent orange exposure.
My dad is a Vietnam Vet. My father met a doctor from the VA who happened to come into his business, and somehow the topic of Vietnam was brought up. Before my dad had a chance to ask, the doctor stated "I bet you have this ailment, and this, and this, and that," and my dad told me that this doctor diagnosed every ailment or illness that he had! I know that there is a strong suspected link of agent orange exposure to diabetes. And a lot of narcoleptics are overweight, which often leads to diabetes.
I do know scientists think that narcoleptics can be born that way, and can have a sudden onset due to a head trauma, many for car wrecks. And with veterans from Iraq, who are having lots of head injuries from those IED's, I imagine we will seeing a lot more narcolepsy in the Iraqi vet population.
