I was wondering how long people have used Xyrem before they noticed improvement. I've been on it for three months now and it hasn't alleviated my Excessive Sleepiness during the day. I've been at the highest dose, 4.5 x2 per night, for almost a month, so I was just wondering if some people go months and months before noticing benefits from it. I have quite a big sleep debt to work off, so I have been keeping that in mind. I still experience moderate-to-severe anxiety every morning, which is making it that much more difficult to stick with it, but I continue to swallow it down every night hoping relief comes soon.

Has it helped you with cataplexy? I was advised to see a psychiatrist to find something to take in the AM for the anxiety, and my appointment is this week. I don't think the anxiety is something that will go away. Xyrem helps my chronic pain so amazingly well, and helps a bit with alertness, along with still taking a stimulant, and I'm only at 3.75x2.

Xyrem works great for Cataplexy, i noticed a difference in a matter of days. However as far as the daytime sleep attacks, it doesnt help much wiith those. I still have to use stimulants to try to get me through the day. The key thing to remember is what works for me might not work for you and vice versa. Be strong and hang in there its a tricky disease that takes time to figure out what medication combination works best for you.

I have extremely mild Cataplexy, but for some reason it seems stronger since I've started Xyrem.

That seems rather odd! Have you consulted your doctor about it? With me it started working pretty quick.

I have noticed this as well, but I am also feeling a little more shaky then normally so Im wondering if its affecting my nerve more and in turn causing more attacks?
