Okay so I have no idea if I actually have narcolepsy but I just thought I'd post on here and say my symptoms. So I don't pass out at any random time but I am always tired. I can sleep if I want to at anytime and never have any trouble sleeping. I can sleep if I allow myself for up to 16 hours without waking up. I'm always yawning and can sleep anywhere at anytime. I would just like some comments on if anybody thinks I have any degree of this or anything else possibly. Thank you.

Hello,

I have the exact same thing.. Sleep anytime anywhere but can control when I go to sleep, I do not fall asleep randomly while in conversation etc. Never feel rested. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago from a PSG/MSLT that showed i went into REM within 8min of all naps. So i was started on Nuvigil took that for 3 weeks felt more awake but extremely sick so had to go off of this. Went to a new specialist at Shands the other day she says that my test was inconclusive because I was on Effexor at the time of test and that medicine causes what they call Prozac eyes which can be mistaken for REM sleep. I am now back to square 1 and very frustrated. I am very confused and not sure if really have N or not. According to all the symptoms seems like N but no Cataplexy. It is so hard to sleep so much and still never feel refreshed but now know why!!!!

Okay thank you. Yeah I haven't been to the doctor for it but I'm 24 years old and I feel like I should be more energetic. I tried to have a sleep study done but they said they need a reason. Also I apparently yell and scream and do really weird things in my sleep, I don't know what that's about but it might mean something. It sounds like were on the same page here, maybe I can figure out what to do from here. Any other tips would be great :)

Well if you go to any sleep specialist and tell them your symptoms they will most likely order the sleep studies. I sometimes also talk and yell in my sleep not sure if related to anything. I am 33 years old and never remember feeling like I had any energy and not normal for anyone to feel like that. Hope you get yourself checked out soon.
