I recently saw my sleep Dr. about getting prescribed Xyrem(an appointment I had to pay for out of pocket),and he suggested I apply for Medicaid to cover the medication and appointments. After doing a little research I don't know if I should be applying for Medicaid or Medicare...it seems like Medicare would cover those expenses.But can I qualify for them if I'm not collecting SSI? Any one with insight?

For Medicare you have to be old enough or on SSDI for a year or two. SSI & Medicaid are income based though some states have certain medicaid waivers for serious illnesses.
