Has anyone else experienced Apraxia of Speech, in other words, planning to say for example, green and purple pops out of your mouth, or just any random word that makes no sense inside the sentence you are forming?

I don't do this when I am typing but when I am talking to my husband, kids etc., and mean to say things like, "it's in the fridge," but before I can get the word fridge out something crazy comes flying out of my mouth like, "it's in the toilet", or the towel, or the shoe.

Recently I was telling my husband that my "back hurts like crazy", but instead I said "my back hurts like a freezer."
And as soon as the "unexpected words comes out" I realize that it makes no sense and in no way was what I was trying to convey in my conversation. Mostly I am known to do this when I am sleepy or minutes after I have been awake. It makes me feel like I have dementia at times. My family, we just laugh it off, but it really is disturbing to not be able to control at times.

I have similar problems with speaking. My friends have noted that when I start slurring my words or saying random things that I'm heading in a nosedive and will soon start having trouble walking. I also often have trouble writing coherently--words will be misspelled, or parts will be omitted along with whole words being skipped.

I have never misplaced words for others. I do at times slur my speech and very often I cannot come up with the right word when I'm sleepy. If you are feeling nervous about misplacing words, check with your doctor. It's probably just the N, but you never know.

I have trouble thinking of the words I want to say. I also slur my speech from time to time. WHen the body is tired, which with narcolepsy it always is run down. The body does crazy stuff.

Yes, I experience this frequently. In addition, I sometimes slur my speech or have trouble thinking of the words I want to say. If I am writing, however, I have no such problem.
