Not Officially Diagnosed With Narcolepsy But....

My name is Becky and I am 29 years old. When I was 13 or so I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Back then it wasn't that well-known and was still something many doctors doubted. I remember being told the pain I was experiencing was all in my head. How classic, right? but I do experience pain and fatigue, both what I believe to me the main symptoms.
In the last few years I've started to experience other things. This includes falling asleep and dreaming almost immediately (very vivid dreams, lots of dreams actually), facing sleep attacks in the car (mainly as a passenger but also as a driver and have taken many a microsleeps), taking 3 hour naps (during the day), having trouble getting to sleep and even when I do sleep I still feel groggy and gross the next day.
I am taking Prozac for anxiety and OCD. I heard that can cause sleep problems too. When mentioning this to my psychiatrist, he prescribed me Trazodone (I believe) as a sleep aid and it works great. I only take it if I know I can get 8 hours of sleep, as I have been groggy when taking it too late. It makes me feel much more refreshed the next day but I hate taking it...even tho my doc said it's not addictive. but it does help.
I don't have any episodes of passing out except getting extremely tired in the car...maybe start head bobbing in 10 minutes or less.
Thanks for reading and any feedback!

Hi there! This doesn't really answer your question or whatever but reading your post was encouraging for me. I'm 21 and trying to get diagnosed (possibly) with Fibro. My main doctor is AMAZING but she says I'm too young to have it. I've been tested for a bunch of other crap to rule things out. My mom has it and a lot of my symptoms are similar to what she deals with. idk.. I guess it's just nice to know that you were diagnosed at 13.. gives me hope for some sort of diagnosis!Hello All,
