For those of you all that have cataplexy
a couple of weeks ago my spouse and I were arguing and he said he wanted a divorce. I was so devastated. He drove off on his motorcycle as I stood crying my eyes out...For some foolish reason I stared to run to the bike.
He looked back and said bye. I somehow collapsed. My body was straight out .
All I realized was that I was laying on asphalt staring into the night sky and my head was not hurting from falling.
I don't recall falling. But I did not just settle to the ground I was lying flat out.
Is that how you all that have cataplexy experience it?
I have been DX with N for 7 years now and only recall of two other times when something such as this happened.
Once was when a person tried to kiss me and I was feeling very vulnerable after my divorce....I kind of blurted out awwwwww and slipped onto the sofa..it was wierd.
Another time Was before my Dx I was feeling very anxious ....being a new mom and my hubby had just went underway w/ the Coast Guard.....I was carrying the baby and feeling very anxious, and scared and my knees buckled.
I managed to keep the baby close to my chest and unharmed. But never understood why I fell to the ground.

I'm so sorry about all that is happening in your life right now. And to top it off you have some frightening symptoms. My cataplexy started out with random episodes that disappeared too so I didn't know anything serious was wrong for a long time until the episodes became weekly and daily events. I have both N and C with sleep apnea. The apnea caused the N and C to be even harder to manage.
Hopefully others will answer your post with some good suggestions.
Hugs and prayers,
Angeline

Linna,
I'm so sorry to hear you're going through such a hard time. What you described does sound familiar. One time I was having a disagreement with my boyfriend and he said something that -literally- floored me. Next thing I knew, I was face down on the ground. If I had been standing a few inches in front of where I was, I would have face-plated the back of the couch!
As for the times you've just kinda sunken down on to the couch/floor. That is what happens to me if I have a strong laughing cataplexy. Sometimes it's just my knees buckling, but other times I just fold right down onto whatever surface is underneath me. The stairs, the floor, whatever.
I hope this helps a little bit.
