:) Lets see whether I create history of lowest score. But will surely tell all episode now onward because of two reason 1)My mind will be light 2) It is very hard to keep smile on face and take lightly things when it cannot be taken , still person should have sportsmen spirit and take many things in light note.

Reading is ok, but writing is preferred while studying for normal student as it help in long memory for topic inside brain .

Writing is preffered over reading in normal student to get score.

I think reading is of no use for N student or better more waste of time. Writing, pencil sketch diagram drawing is good.

Reason behind this can be attributed to the fact that hand, brain co-ordination helps in better storage in normal person. This habit should be more stressed to sleepy student.

Your observation etc please put in

I think study is moving faster with hand and confidence too

Listen to your body, if you're sleepy take a 15-20 minute nap then go back to studying. You will be more refreshed, which will allow you to study more effectively. If it's not possible to take a nap go for a brisk walk 10-15 minutes. Don't fight yourself in the end you will waste more time fighting than studying. I wasn't lucky enough to have a diagnosis while I was in school, but fortunately I listened to my body's needs and did the following to improve my studies more than 14 years ago:

-Tried to scheduled classes at hours I knew I was more awake
-If I had to take an early morning class I would not schedule two back to back so I could take a nap after the class
-Reading put me to sleep so if I had a class that was heaving reading I would try to find the book on tape, listening to the book and reading along with it and I was able to stay awake and retain the book. If the book wasn't on tape I would walk slowly around campus while reading my book or sit in a hard uncomfortable chair
-If I would wake up wide awake in the middle of the night I would study until I was tired enough to fall back asleep, taking advantage of all waking hours possible
-Find a study partner that can help you recognize when you're not being efficient and can help you realize you need a short nap or a brisk walk
-Exercise can help improve the proper sleep cycles and brain staying power, get 30 mins of exercise daily and prepare to be awake to study after. I would exercise twice a day and would generally get about 1.5 to 2 hours of study time after each session

Experiment and see what things work for you, what works for one person might not for you. Take your medications as prescribed and on a schedule if that's what the Doctor has prescribed for you as doctors prescribe them to be most effective. After being in the workforce for 11 years I've learned not to fight the sleeping spells at work and I still use the nap or walk as a method to improve my concentration and focus.

Good luck to all of you!!!

I am positively motivated and excited to face my first exam on 11. I strongly believe this match will be like sportsmen entering ground after injury. I am confident it will be a stepping stone. No matter I win /lose the match but I will always take it in spirit my first game and entering ground after having injury. Injury are common to sportsmen same applies student , and every professional

Naumann, A., Bellebaum, C., Daum, I. (2006) Cognitive
deficits in narcolepsy. J Sleep Res 15, 329–338

Naumann also suggest a modality specific effect, with more severe problems with retention of verbal memory compared to visual memory

The most straightforward explanation for memory problems in narcoleptic patients is related to their excessive sleepiness

I think after bit thinking and today exam performance Student should avoid verbal memory input (like lecture) as only source of memory Input.

I feel and it has worked Visual memory ,sketches learning by remembering visual things help in recollecting and later implementing it.

Writing can also help.

So N student should not depend upon verbal input for academic it should be minimum

hey,

So how did you do on that test yo? I am thirty, always planned to get a degree in arhitecture, well and now get the kids, and the lack of energy, I've been able to do plenty of 'Design' work that I'm proud of, but still hurts when the offer is rejected because I don't have a stamp. I've enjoyed your posts! you are very well informed, in fact at first I thought you must be a mole for the pharmaceutical companies!, sorry no offence meant.

I was happy I could perform , today I am not happy because my paper was good or bad but I was happy that I can perform. Visual Memory helped me. I was blank for few min. when I started but sketching helped me and It worked recollecting things. Visual memory helps. Now banking only on visual memory. Verbal memory is no use or as good as it don't exist worth trusting in myself.

Regarding studying it is never too late. Why don't you try. Everyone said when It came in my mind that it is too late I I started with entrance exam studying things which I left again.

Don't keep dreams to your heart work on it.

When you have to say farewell to life you should remember as how sweet was life.

Regarding Test I am sure to get Redo - Redo is pride of architecture.

Can you share with me your design work . I have many things to learn from you

Myself Mole with Pharmaceutical companies this statement I liked it . I visited Dr. today. We both were smiling all the time . He knew I was most studious regarding this disease and still I behaved with him as if I don't know anything about it.

But still I insist now "Studying about this disease is waste of time . Don't study about it , you need solution and solution is that we should forget about this disease and move ahead. If you require knowledge try few medical book/Guideline by Neurological society but at end you will join me and say better stop studying about this disease "

I am starting college next month, The last time I was attending school was six years ago when my teachers thought I was on heavy drugs and because of that did not care when I slept through every lesson and failed miserably. Little did they know I was at the beggining stage of my Narcolepsy and I'm alot more awakenow that I actually am on heavy drugs.lol

Crazy as it sounds, I read the most when I am at gym on the thigh trainer, I reckon it's the solution to my study problems, that is when I am the most awake.

You should give it a try.

I too find that my best work is done when I change environ to keep stimulated, I often do the reading that I have to for work, at a busy coffee shop or while walking at a track close to my house.

there is a weight set and cot in my offices adjoining warehouse, it took alot of work to convince my superiors that I'm not fooling around, but its made a world of difference, being able to raise heart rate when I need to and take a nap when I need to.

Having gone thru college and grad school without diagnosis or medication, I can tell you the biggest challenges were staying awake in class room and also during independent reading. Taking notes were never an option because I was not awake enough for classes. I had friends who helped me with notes. I depended heavily on textbooks. I did one of two things. I read while I paced around my room or I read in my couch when I knew I was gonna fall asleep soon. Reading on the couch, I probably slept more than I read. But I retained that info well because I would read like crazy as soon I woke up refreshed.

Definitely a challenge. But you can go thru grad school with good scores.
