Are there tips for going into REM sleep? Even though I am taking Nuvigil, I'm more awake, but don't feel rested. Does that make sense? A lot of times when I sleep I feel like I am half awake. I surely don't feel rested after those times. Then every couple of months I would wake up one morning and feel rested and ready to go. Unfortunately I would run myself to death because I felt good and I would try to catch up on the things I have let fall to the wayside because of being so tired. I'm trying the Melatonin and I'm not so sure that is any benefit for me. I may try some of the other herbal treatments for sleep. I sure would like to be able to sleep better without the medications. If anyone has any ideas on this please share. Thanks.

Exercise during the day helps. Meditation for sure! I like the melatonin helps me a bunch. Are you at the max dose? Sometimes if I am stuck in that tense tweeky tired state I suck down a cup of Tension Tamer Tea. Herbal remedies that I have used in the past Valarian= works but to much will give you a thick foggy headache that wont go away. Also I function MUCH better when I am taking fairly high doses of Omega 3 (esp I do a mix of fish oil caplets and cold pressed flax liquid)

Hi Lisa and thanks. Not sure what the max dose is on Melatonin. Sometimes I take three of them. I also use the fish oil, and B complex vitamins. I ahve started back on my immune system boosters since some say that N is an autoimmune issue. I remember Valarian, I remember it stinks :) May try that again though.
Thanks for responding.

Melatonin has never helped me. Maybe I didn't take the right amount. I take .05 Ativan and it helps me fall asleep.

I think alternative treatments do work, but I would work with a practioner that specializes in functional medicine. This makes a huge difference in getting the right protocol that your body needs. It has done wonders for my son!!!!
