tongue.gif O.k., I need help with something...I have severe Cataplexy almost every day in public, and now that both of my children are in school I need help coming up with a way to let the public know that I am o.k., and that I will "come around" in just a minute so they don't freak out on me all the time. I thought about a medical bracelet, but I couldn't think of what to say that would briefly fit on the bracelet, which would help explain to them what is going on. Any suggestions?

hope you understand my english. I am from denmark..

This is my first post, and im excited to be able to start opening up. I have looked for a bracelet , but have NOT found any with narcolepsy on them. Any ideas? I do like the idea of the answering machine, but that would also mean that everyone would hear it, unless you had one line designated specifically for it, and then you are paying for a phone line everymonth.

Protectionlady, hello I was unable to find one with Narcolepsy so I contacted the medical Alert ID company and had a custom one made for me with my specific information on it. Hope this helps.

Thanks Chrissy! I think this forum thing is what I've needed for a long time. I've felt as if I've been on an island for 5 years.

Thanks, I think the bracelet is a great idea. Xyrem has really helped my cataplexy, but boy do I remember the days of everybody in Walmart just staring, or Krogers, etc.

I think everyone with severe cataplexy and are prone to collapsing should get a medical alert bracelet...with a line that says "Please call ____ before thinking about 911" tongue.gif. It would be good if doctors could help supply these, as I have no idea of their cost (I don't have severe C so I don't have much of a need for one, luckily).
