I am currently in an active job search after my position with a major national health insurer was eliminated in a nationwide restructuring this past July.
I'm seeking full-time employment as a Training Specialist, Senior Training Specialist, or Training Manager. The search is a little bit challenging because we live in San Antonio, TX and I am searching in Charlotte, NC. But we can't just pick up and move without a job, or put the house on the market without a job in this economy. So the long-distance search is the way to go right now.
For the first couple of months there was not a lot of activity. However, I've been involved in a few interviews recently and one that is very promising. A hospital system flew me out here to Charlotte this week to interview for a Training Specialist position that I'd LOVE to have -- very attractive role, and I'd bring a lot to it.
One of the interview processes I was involved in was recently cut short because the company lost some senior leadership due to the economic situation. I would have liked that one too, and been good at it; so I'll have to keep touching base with them to see if they renew their search after setting a new direction.
I interviewed with Wachovia too, a few months ago, but they are part of that whole banking debacle right now and things didn't work out. It was a workforce manager type role, managing a flexible work arrangements project, which wasn't 100% on target with what I wanted to to anyway so I'm not heartbroken about it. Somehow I doubt there will be many more opportunities coming up with Wachovia, at least right now.
Best of luck to those of you who are also involved in a search. If you want to connect on LinkedIn to see if we have any networking contacts that can help each other, feel free to send me a PM.
