Alan, your posts make me laugh so hard -- it's good that I'm on the Effexor or I'd be face-down in the keyboard right now from cataplexy I'm sure.

Anyway, I did hear back from Joyce at the Narcolepsy Network office. She is as stumped as the rest of us regarding why the story hasn't run, and they have not gotten an updated date from "the Insider" folks. So in the meantime I have my DVR set to record every episode of the program for the rest of the week.

K

that's actually a concern of mine.. i love to joke around.. yes goofy... but at the same time.. well ok im just goofy.

Me too!

Just fast-forwarded through Wednesday's episode and it was "all Madonna, all the time" with a little bit of Dancing With The Stars thrown in. No Narcolepsy.

I'll keep recording these until we air!

I think we need to give Kimberly a special award. Seriously, she is risking significant amounts of brain cells watching this much garbage to find our segment on The Insider. Kimberly RULES!!!!!!!!

Oh Mike you are too funny!

Just so you know, in order to try to preserve what few brain cells I have remaining, I do watch the show on mute and just look at the pictures. And I don't stay up to watch it live -- it's recorded on my DVR. If something looks like it might be Narcolepsy-related instead of, say, Angelina Jolie-related, then I turn up the sound. So far aside from the story about the overweight brides, there hasn't been any "real people" type news in a week's time.

Thursday's episode didn't have any Narcolepsy footage.

Someone is going to have to make a publicity stunt in Hollywood with a A-list star wearing a Narcolepsy Network banner-toga or something..

Perhaps ET/The Insider found that their ratings were sliding in the people with sleep issues category. Now, they are betting that we will just keep watching and because we struggle with short term memory, we won't remember that the story never aired! Too bad they don't know that we are far more resourceful than they thought. We do NOT need to watch because Kimberly is too clever for them. This way their ratings will go down even more, forcing them to eventually show the footage. But, even then we will win. We can just get the story online and skip all of the CRAP! I still worry that they will use the footage in opposition to Brittany Spears next screw up. The last time I searched their site for narcolepsy, I wound up with 30 separate stories about her and her drugs. Won't it be great if The Insider links us to Brittany's drug use? Actually, if she does have a sleep disorder, I hope she is getting help.

This totally makes sense, since the election is November 4th and they have had a Sarah Palin story every single night since I've started to watch! Maybe once the elction coverage cools down they will have time for us.

I'm going to stop posting my "not last night" updates, but I will continue watching the show just in case there is a slow news day and they squeeze us in. If they do, I'll be sure to update.

Yeah, I saw that a paparazzi photo caught her with samples of Provigil in her purse. If she didn't have Narcolepsy, Sleep Apnea, or Chronic Shift Work Sleep Disorder then her physician would have to be prescribing it on an off-label usage.

My personal opinion on this is that she probably has to submit to drug tests due to all of her custody issues, so amphetamine stimulants would show up on that type of a test. Provigil (maybe) wouldn't.

I certainly hope she is not seeing an unethical physician who would be prescribing these types of stimulants without a valid diagnosis. It kind of cheapens it for the people who really need it.

Kimberly,

Thanks for saying that in a way far less disparaging than I could conceive last night. I would not wish narcolepsy on anyone, but I also hope that Ms. Spears (who seems to have plenty of other problems) would not abuse a drug that in vitally necessary for many of our friends. This condition is hard enough without having it become more of a "fake" for the general public if a high profile figure were to use it as an excuse to abuse drugs. Oh well, I continue to appreciate your willingness to subject your brain to the drivel (even with the sound off and in fast forward). You are SUPER cool!
