Not me. But I have heard that it is a condition on it's own. I also heard it is not very common, (but they used to say that about narcolepsy too) good luck finding someone! If there is anything I can do to help... write!

I used to know someone that had Isolated Cataplexy, so it's certainly possible, just rare. I have a lot of Cataplexy...more than any other symptom, so if you want to chat, feel free to message me. Aside from C, I'm pretty high functioning.

My daughter has episodes where she falls down and "sleeps" that may or may not be cataplexy... we're seeing new specialist soon. She always has vivid dreams and her eyes are closed. I was under the impression that cataplexy involves muscle paralysis but retained consciouness. Is that wrong? Is it possible that all along she has been having cataplexy attacks even though she goes into a dream type state? I'd appreciate any advice on this.

Cataplexy was my daughters first & most severe symptom, making the initial diagnosis tricky. And sometimes she went right from a cataplexy attack into sleep. Her sleep doctor called it a highly unusual presentation, but the HLA typing, &MSLT supported the narcolepsy diagnosis. Over time we have seen other symptoms evolve- HH, occasional sleep paraysis, disrupted nighttime sleep. All of which are pretty well controlled by medication, but a degree of daytime sleepiness remains. But for the first months, probably first year or more it was pretty much just cataplexy.
