In the past, I used to take a few short naps after work (15 - 30mins). However, for the past year my work schedule has changed and my naps last for 2 hours!!! I am a 27 year old high school teacher and I have to be at work at 6:45am (first bell rings at 7:05am), I get a 50min conference period around 12:30pm and then I am officially allowed to leave at 2:45pm (school is out at 2:15pm) - but lets be honest, most teachers stay 1 -2 hours longer even if they are not in charge of an after school activity. So for the past year, I have been coming home in the afternoon and crashing for about 2 hours every day - and I am "tired" of it! By the time I wake up, I should have already ate dinner, graded papers, watched my Oprah that I tivo and be getting ready for bed. But since my naps last so long I don't have time to do hardly anything. I feel I am missing out on what I should be doing at my age - meeting up with friends, going to watch my students at games, preparing everything for my wedding for next year, etc. Even though these horriblly, long naps have infiltrated my life, I still try and go to bed by 9:30pm since I have to get up by 5:30am. I tried setting an alarm to wake me up after an hour nap but I physically will not get up. If I skip the nap, it feels even worse physcially. Anyone in the same boat? How long do your naps last? Any advice to kick the long nap habit?

Before I got any meds I had sleep that lasted 36hrs 22 mins thats without stirring or even going toilet.that is going to bed on friday waking up sunday. Since been on a ship load of meds now even on xyrem my sleep is disturbed.as for waking and you should have done this and done that unfortunatly however I try to get a regular routine you only need to have a bad day and your so called schedule goes out the window. worst thing is to skip a nap or trying to keep yourselve going as effects will get worse until you eventually do go, In my case when I tried to do normal things years ago it actually made me feel worse so I always have my naps, but found for me irregulating my naps everyday (different times) made a difference in the way I feel.
I set numourous alarms case one or two won't even wake me. I try to have 4-5 10-25 min power naps everyday.
