I read the post on "Before being diagnosed... "and I thought maybe it was important to post that there is a genetic condition callled Hypokalemia Periodic Paralysis (HKPP). I thought for sure this was what I was experiencing. It is a mutation in the channelopathies in the cells with the sodium potassium pump mechanism. (not enough potassium in the serum because it is all trapped in the cells). It causes you to be fully paralysed while you are awake. It also causes drop attacks (like cataplexy) and muscle weakness. Many people with it awake paralysed in the mornings. It is ALOT like Narc.
There are websites with lots of info on it. It is diagnosed through the MDA although it is not a real Dystrophy. Turns out it was not what I was experiencing as none of the muscle tests came back positive so my neurologist has moved on to Narc/cat
If anyone has any questions I would love to contribute...
