Andre and I are coming across some new "symptoms" and we are a little confused by it. When he was originally dx the dr said it was N with out Cat. Over the last 4 to 5 months Andre has developed Cat like symptons but only after sex blink.gif . It's not always the same, sometimes he can get back out of bed and continue his day other days he just suddenly hits a wall and can't get going again for a while. Usually if he takes a nap he feels better but still has a rough day. At his appointment this morning the dr said it could be Cat attacks since its a loss of muscle control just not severe.

So my question to all of you is can you be dx originally with out cat attacks then over time develope them? And if so do the cat attacks get worse?

The dr also changed his script from 200mg of provigil daily to 200mg in the am and 100mg about 4-6 hours later and added 20mg of prozac.

From my own experience, and having symptoms long before dx, I can say that I have gone through many "phases". Currently, I'm only experiencing EDS and microsleep/automatic behavior. In the past I have experienced atonia (usually only when trying force myself to nap - I like to say "I get stuck"), also vivid dreams/HH. I've never experienced full-on cat but for one time (and I suspect it was medication induced by soma which was prescribed after a car accident to relieve back pain). Lately, I have had "glimpses" of HH again as well as partial (I'll call) "weakening" of the knees and arms. And throughout, I can't count the number of times I've had "sleep sex"; not remembering it at all. Does he remember, or just get tired? Again, in my experiences, things can come in waves and I just take things in stride.

I think it's possible. My cataplexy was the main event when it came to symptoms, but the older I get I find EDS taking over my days more and more. God bless provigil.

I would look real close at what cataplexy is, and encourage A to talk about it with us.

He says he remembers but gets weak. He tells me its more of a energy thing not sleep but if he just relaxes and takes a nap he can get going just not as energetic as he may have been earlier in the morning. Just another mystery for us to sort out I guess. Thanks for responding

I will admit provigil does give a boost but not a steady one and is unpredictable. My hope is that the prozac will help a little too.

I would love for Andre to post with you all he's just not comfortable with posting on web sites, I am working on him though rolleyes.gif .

It all changes as you go. Just because it all seems to hit at once doesn't mean there arn't stragglers waiting to come along (like C). New elements could appear or disappear at any time, especially if the conditions around you are changing with C (remember it's emotionally driven!).
