Hi All,

Not sure how many made it to Albany over the weekend...
I went with my boyfriend and arrived Saturday morning.

This was my first conference, and it was great to see some many other PWN.
All ages, races, sexes, etc.
A lot more people that I had thought.

Dr. Michael Thorpy was a great speaker and spoke about narcolepsy, research, medication, etc.

The film crew took a bit getting used to... but after a while, it was fine.

Looking back, I wish I would've been more social and talked to more people... but I was tired. !

I was there also. It was my first conference and I am soooo glad I went! It was such a wonderful experience. I met so many fantastic people and learned a great deal. It was especially nice feeling so "accepted." I had to remind myself that it was ok to close my eyes for a minute during a workshop or that people wouldn't look at me wierd if my brain couldn't find the right word I was looking for. Finally, a place where a PWN could truly "be themselves" and not worry about being judged!

I am really looking forward to the October conference now. Thanks so much NN for putting these conferences together!!!!!

I know! I didn't have to worry about looking disinterested or "inappropriate" (slack jaw, eyes sleepy, etc.). And between sessions (or during), I could slump on a chair/couch in the hallway and it didn't look weird.

I am not sure if I will make it to the big conference this year. Airfare+hotel+conference fees+dinner can kinda add up moneywise!

I guess next year they'll be having it in one of the Carolinas...

I hope they have it in Boston again (where i live) or maybe Tampa one year (family & friends live there).

Ha, great pictures and captions!

I took tons outside -around Albany- but I kept forgetting to take pictures inside.

I think I have two. And one is a picture of the 'nap' room but the way the lighting was... it looked like a room of mental patient beds in a dark cellar.

Thanks for the pics and updates. I almost made it to the conference but had a little trouble with coordinating childcare for my son. I'm really looking forward to the October conference and meeting some of you!! --lisa

It was.
Beds were comfy. No one was in there when I took a short nap. Although I woke up to a super loud maintenance walkie-talkie thing... and a camera crew.

Sam Toombs from England, or a different Sam? She was one of the people sent with he documentary group. Since you said they were "comfy" can I assume they were better than the cots I was picturing?

I really wish I could have gone. It seems like it was a lot of fun. Maybe another one, have to get all my schooling settled first smile.gif.
