my daughter has been showing syptoms of ,both narcolepsy and cataplexy for a year. She in her last year of school so is starting her gcse's latley the syptoms of both conditions have gotten worse we thought she was messing around when she would laugh fall to the floor . I made an hospital appointment last year in november, when we go to the appointment it had been cancelled and the doctor had gone on holiday. We were not informed that the appointment had been cancelled and i was livid. I recieved an appointment for the 19th of march i phoned up for it to be brought forward so now its for the 26th of feb. I am just very worried because i have self diagnosed she has no medication and its really bad now she has a cataplexy attack every time she laughs she always sounds drunk or she is just always asleep. She used to be full of confidence always out now she never goes out she is always crying i think its depressing her can i do anything please help.

The first thing to know is that your daughter is not alone. You are not alone. I have "N" w/ "C" (which apperently stands for Narcolepsy and Cataplexy respectfully....who knew?)...
Secend...Ask questions. A good bunch of people are here.
Third, try to apply empathy in every situation. Having "N" can be like having a massive sleep storm going on inside your brain, and usually at the worse times possible.
Never give up hope, and remember that a positive outcome is always possible...We just have to believe and strive towards it to make it ours.
