Harvard researchers seek skin biopsy donations

Individuals with narcolepsy and normal, healthy subjects needed. Researchers at Harvard and Brigham & Women’s Hospital are working to discover the cause of the sleep disorder narcolepsy. You can help by donating a skin biopsy.

What is a skin biopsy?
If you volunteer to participate in this study, a physician will take a small, circular piece of skin (less than the size of a pencil eraser) from your upper arm or upper leg, as well as a blood sample.

How will the skin biopsy be used?
Researchers at Harvard University will use the skin biopsy to study the cells affected in narcolepsy. This research might lead to more effective treatments for narcolepsy.

To participate
We are looking for individuals with narcolepsy/cataplexy, parents and siblings of narcoleptic patients and healthy, non-narcoleptic individuals 18 years of age and older.
